You probably hear it everywhere: if you want to grow your business, you need to automate.
Right. But there are some things you should keep in mind when you automate your social media. You don’t want to be seen as a robot, I assume?

Today I’m going to talk about the reasons why you should NOT automate your social media: I know, it may sound ridiculous, and totally against what you’ve been doing, and told to do, but there are some very good reasons why you should give a try to spontaneous posts.


4 reasons to avoid scheduling the content in advance:

1) Reach is much better: if you go and check your insights, you’ll see that the organic reach is way higher when you post something spontaneous, especially live videos!

2) When something bad happens, like a catastrophe or a shooting somewhere, it doesn’t make a very good impression if you keep selling your stuff or posting your content as if nothing happened while everyone is talking about the event.

3) You can’t build a conversation by using only automated content: you need to log in and get in touch with your fans or followers. Engagement grows a lot if you go answer their comments and keep the conversation going. You surely remember that people do business with people!

4) Lack of personalization: by engaging with your followers, you not only establish a conversation, but you get to understand what they are interested in, or what is troubling or challenging them, so you can create more relevant content.

I’m not saying you should not automate because you can’t possibly spend the whole time on social media, but it’s a good idea to balance the automated content and spontaneous one. The later makes you and your brand real more relatable and human! 

Automating all your content on social media risks to make you look like a robot, and it doesn’t help you with reaching a bigger audience.

If you only automate your content, you don’t get to engage in a conversation with your followers, you a) don’t get a lot of engagement, b) you don’t connect with your audience, and I’m sure you know how valuable is to connect personally when you’re working especially online!

Automate, but remember to post something spontaneous quite often, especially live videos are doing great! Just go and check your insights.
